Former Ghana Premier League top-scorer, Eric Bekoe has opened up on how his move to Asante Kotoko came during his time with Kpando Heart of Lions.
The ex-GPL star is fondly remembered for his exploits with the Porcupine Warriors, helping the club to a league and FA Cup double in the 2007/08 season. He was a also golden boot winner in that same season.
His tenure with the Reds was short after spending just a season before moving to Egypt to sign for Petrojet.
Speaking to Joy News, the one-time Most Valuable Player and top scorer of the Ghanaian top-flight revealed that the late Jerry Asare was the man behind his move to Asante Kotoko.
“I went to Israel during my time with Heart of Lions but things did not materialize. On my return I met the late Jerry Asare and he asked me if I would like to play for Kotoko and I said yes, it’s a dream come through because I’ve been paying my dues as a fan so if this chance should come I will grab it and grab it well. And I started doing the magics at the El Wak Stadium. That’s where it all started. He was the operations manager at that time,” the ex-Petrojet striker stated.
Bekoe was one of Kotoko’s’ most inspired signings of the decade. He established himself as one of best players to ever play for the Ghanaian giants.
