Danlad Ibrahim was heavily linked with a move to Al Hilal Omdurman at the end of the previous campaign.
Reports indicate the Sudanese champions made an offer of $50,000 for the Black Galaxies goalkeeper which was initially rejected.
However, the CEO of the Porcupine Warriors, Nana Yaw Amponsah has explained in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM that he had to convince the young shot-stopper to stay.
“I gave a lot of factors why he (Danlad) must stay at Kotoko. I told him, you are Kotoko and CHAN number one goalkeeper, you will also go to the World Cup but if you leave Kotoko, there is no guarantee that you are going to get playing time and could lose your slots. Danlad thanked me after staying at the club.”
Danlad, 20, was instrumental as Kotoko won the Ghana premier league last season.
He has been facing competition from Frederick Asare, who has been performing well in his absence.
But he remains an important member of the team and is grateful for Amponsah’s intervention.
