Former Ghanaian defender, Dan Quaye believes the performance of the two top clubs in Ghana, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko has left the nation and their fans completely heartbroken.
He also added that the local players are not proving to book a place at the national team during an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
“The two top clubs [Hearts and Kotoko] have disappointed Ghanaians and their supporters. When things are not going on well it will affect the nation. There are lots of players from Hearts and Kotoko who played for the national team in the past but the current local players are not proving. It is very sad. We’ve been fighting to get at least three or four players to be at the national team but they are not helping themselves. I don’t know what is wrong with them.”
Dan Quaye was a key figure in Hearts of Oak’s dominant era, winning six league titles, as well as the CAF Champions League in 2000 and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2005.
He also made ten appearances for the Black Stars of Ghana 2006 to 2006.
