Accra Hearts of Oak NCC demand apology from Alhaji Akambi ahead of Legon Cities clash
The National Chapters Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak is demanding an apology from the club’s board member, Alhaji Akambi before their game against Legon Cities.
Alhaji Akambi recently took a damming swipe at Hearts of Oak supporters in a WhatsApp group. He reproachfully objected the agitations or the supporters as ‘idiotic and rubbish’ following the club’s embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Medeama SC.
In reaction, the NCC stated in a press release that the right-hand of Togbe Afede should apologize to the fans before their next home game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“We have become aware of an alleged voicemail from one of our Directors, disrespecting the club’s fans and dismissing their concerns. In light of the team’s disappointing performance, we expect Alhaji Akambi to collaborate with the supporters unions and engage with the fins, sung them of efforts to rectify the situation.
“While we condemn any actions by fans that involve insulting or attacking the Club’s directors, we believe that Alhaji should demonstrate better judgment as a former leader of the supporters. Therefore, we advise him to issue a public apology to the fans before our next home match at the Accra Sports Stadium. We encourage our supporters to uphold the values encapsulated in our motto as we navigate through these challenging times.”
After the defeat on Sunday, the Rainbows have now dropped to 6th on the Ghana Premier League table.
The heavy defeat has sparked discussions regarding the need for improvement and potential changes within Hearts of Oak.
