Former Asante Kotoko management member and Ashanti Regional Circles Council chairman, Kwadwo Nyantakyi has called on the leadership of the club’s National Circles Council to organize early elections for new leaders to assume their mandate now.
As reported, the National Circles Council led by Christopher Damenya have suspended the next elections indefinitely but the members of the Circles in Ashanti Region are not in line with their plans, asking the authorities to accord respect to their constitution and organize an election.
It appears, majority of the Ashanti Regional Circles Council are concerned about it and are in support calling for elections to be organized now.
During a floor speech on Saturday, Kwadwo Nyantakyi tore into the National Council and gave them two weeks to hold an election.
“We are giving them two weeks to organize an election else we will do it for them. If they fail to understand us then they should focus their ‘National’. We will also rule Ashanti Region on it own,” he said.
Furthermore, Kwadwo Nyantakyi regurgitated on how he supporterd the club financially some years ago.
“I bought seven players during Herbert Mensah’s era. I nearly fought him because he decided not to pay me back. He later paid me after a friendly game against Kwaebibirem.
“There was a rape charge on our ex-player Michael Osei Emba before his arrival but I went to pay GHC 10,000 at that time (about fifteen years ago) to withdraw the case.
“I also paid for Joe Sam, Joe Okyere, and Osei Kwame Senior. I told Herbert one day that I have resigned and George Amoako came to my office to apologize not to leave the club. I paid for some under 20 players.
“The Ashanti people must be blamed. We said it but you didn’t listen. We won’t allow them to deceive us again.
“Kotoko is from the Ashanti Region. The head quarters is here. The national chairman position hasn’t gone anywhere before apart from the Ashanti Region since the club was established. But they are not thinking about the circles. We won’t sit down and allow them for the downfall of the Circle.
“We had over 100 circles who were voting before my departure. It was 44 before my arrival and I had 31 during the election,” he ended.
Nyantakyi, nicknamed Ex Doe and Guy Jesus was a member of the famous IMC management headed by Nana Bantamahene then known as Sylvester Asare Owusu that put the brakes on Hearts of Oak’s dominance of the Ghanaian league.

They built a winsome team by bringing in the likes of Charles Taylor, Yusif Chibsah among others and won the league in 2003.
