Ghanaian-born Gabriel Dadzie is certainly enjoying life after switching his allegiance to represent Djibouti at the national level.
The 26-year-old attacker put in arguably his best performance at the Mauritius 4-Nations Football Series, providing two assists, back-to-back goals
and one man-of-the-match accolade in two games.
His blistering display helped the Riverains de la Mer Rouge to beat Pakistan 3-1 to win the competition.
Djibouti took an early lead in the game with Dooualeh M. Elabeh netting the ball in the 10th minute. Despite equaliser chances, Pakistan failed to score a goal.
In the 73rd minute, Gabriel Dadzie of Djibouti, who are ranked 193 in the FIFA rankings, scored another goal to make the lead 2-0.
Pakistan’s Hayat Mohammad Umar pulled one back in the 84th minute to give hope to the men in green with the scoreboard reading 2-1 but Samuel Akinbinu scored one more for Djibouti just after a minute later.
With the victory over Pakistan, Djibouti have secured their first silverware.
They topped the table with a 100% winning record.
The Mauritius 4-Nations Football Series International friendly had the hosts, Pakistan, Djibouti and Kenya play in a round-robin format.
Mauritius will play Kenya on Sunday, 18 June 2023 to officially end the tournament.
