Wantaway Accra Hearts of Oak striker, Kwadwo Obeng Junior has clarified circumstances surrounding his recent controversial Whatsapp status linked to the leaders of the Rainbows.
In particular, the attacker, who formalized his relationship with his long-time girlfriend over the weekend posted: “You people will hear from me very soon. They are all part of the team’s downfall (fake leaders)”
This post has since prompted tongues to wag, with some fans linking it to the leaders of the club.
But in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, the striker rubbished the reports that he was referring to the technical team or the management.
Explaining the matter, he said “I don’t have any problem with the team and I can’t say anything bad about them because of the opportunity they gave me. I just wrote it on my status and I don’t care how they take it. I did not mention any name,” he clarified.
Obeng Junior appears to be edging closer to an exit from the club following the expiration of his contract on June 6.
We reported on Wednesday morning that there is no current talks to extend his deal, raising the possibility that he could leave on a free transfer after five years.
