Central African Republic head coach, Raoul Savoy has set his sights on claiming a play-offs spot from Group I with the Wild Beasts ahead of the 2026 World Cup from.
Coach Raoul says the group, which contains Ghana, Mali, Chad, Comoros and Madagascar will not be easy but is optimistic of progressing to the play-offs.
“We will meet again in the World Cup qualifiers. Is a tough group like the other ones. Two top teams [Ghana and Mali]. We’ll fight and try to claim the second position to qualify for the play-offs.
“I think the first one will be tough but the second one can be okay. It’s a tough group and big battles as we like. Let’s see exactly what will happen in this group,” Raoul Savoy stated in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com after the draw.
Winners of each of the nine groups will automatically qualify for the World Cup 2026. The four best runners-up will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament. The winner of the CAF Play-Off Tournament will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.
The qualifiers are scheduled to take place over two years, from November 2023 to November 2025.
