According to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko have informed the the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) of their inability to participate in the upcoming Top 4 Competition due to the current circumstances of the club.
Following the decision to pull out of the competition, GHALCA are considering fifth placed team, Bibiani Gold Stars or CAF Confederations Cup representative, Dreams FC to replace the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko, who finished fourth in the BetPawa Premier League last season were supposed to join the winners, Medeama along with the runners-up, Aduana Stars and Bechem United for the tournament, which will take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Before the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League, which will begin in September, the clubs will compete in these games as a preseason event.
The tournament’s dates have not yet been revealed by GHALCA.
