Accra Hearts of Oak’s search for new coach is over.
The Rainbows have reportedly appointed Dutch trainer, Martin Koopman as their head coach.
Koopman will permanently succeed Slavko Matic, who left in March after less than seven months in charge of the club.
The 67-year-old tactician is expected to touch down in Ghana on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. He will be unveiled in the coming days to the fans.
Hearts of Oak were linked with Kotoko’s Prosper Narteh Ogum, A normal Walker and former Esperance coach, Nabil Maloul before landing Martin Koopman.
The former Go Ahead Eagles defender started his managerial career with SC Cambuur in 1991 as youth coach before he was promoted to the senior side as assistant coach.
Koopman last managed the Maldives national football team between 2019 and 2021.
He has had stints with FC Groningen, Roda JC, AS Vita Club, Den Bosch, Al Nasr and RKC Waalwijk.
Koopman was recommended by his compatriot, Rene Hiddink, who was appointed as the new technical director few days ago.
The Phobians will open their campaign with an away game against Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
The 2023/24 season get underway in September later this month.
