Nigeria’s sole representative at this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United, began their campaign with an emphatic 3-0 win against Academia do Lobito of Angola in Uyo on Sunday night.
Ghanaian left-sided midfielder Samuel Antwi back Paul Odeh Inalegwu and left-footed central midfielder Shedrack Asiegbu scored the goals for the Pride of Rivers who moved to the summit of Group C after the first round of matches.
Meanwhile, in other CAF Confederation Cup games played, Club Africain of Tunisia defeated Ghana’s Dreams FC 2-0 in the other Group C match.
Based on goal differential, Rivers United leads the group. The Port Harcourt team’s next match is scheduled for Sunday, March 31, at Cape Coast Stadium against Dreams FC.
Rivers United will travel to Ghana to face Dreams FC next Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi while APC do Lobito will host Club Africain of Tunisia.
