Former Hearts of Oak defender, Raddy Ovouka explained that he was forced to terminate his contract during his last days at the club.
The Congolese left-back, in an interview with ghanasportspage, said he had a fallout with the Hearts of Oak board after New Mexico showed interest in him.
He explained that Hearts demanded money from the transfer, which was in contrast to the terms of his contract.
“When I got a transfer to New Mexico, that’s where the problem started. Because in my contract, if a club came for me on loan, I was eligible to leave for free. But they said they needed money before authorizing the loan move. So I told my agent to check if what they are demanding is in my contract. That’s why I terminated my contract.”
He said he later rescinded his decision after Hearts of Oak reached out to Congo Brazzaville’s ambassador to Ghana to help pursue him to sign a contract with them to help the Phobians earn money from the New Mexico deal.
“The ambassador for Congo told me to sign the contract so I signed again. He is like a father to me because he helped me a lot. He helped me get a National team call-up and everything. The club went to see him to complain about me. So he called and told me to sign the contract for Hearts to get money from the deal.”
Raddy Ovouka eventually completed the move to New Mexico United in the United States of America in January 2022.
