Black Stars’ head coach Chris Hughton has announced a 27-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Asante Kotoko’s midfielder Richmond Lamptey made the cut while Arsenal and Ghana’s deputy skipper was left out.
Alongside Partey, Tariq Lamptey, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Baba Rahman are the other big names who could not make the list.
Lamptey and Sulemana missed out due to injuries while Issahaku and Rahman opted out due to personal reasons. Where’s Partey’s omission is on account of his slow recovery from a muscle injury he suffered in October?
The team will begin their camping in Kumasi, where they will face Namibia in a pre-tournament friendly.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is slated to begin on January 12, 2014.
Ghana will begin their AFCON quest in Group B where they have been paired with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
