The Black Stars of Ghana will lock horns with the Brave Warriors of Namibia today at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi in a pre-AFCON friendly game.
Both nations have qualified for Africa’s prestigious tournament in Ivory Coast and will use the game to fine-tune their final preparations for the tournament.
The Black Stars have been housed in Group B alongside record holders, Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique. The Brave Warriors of Namibia will play against South Africa, Mali and Tunisia in Group E.
Head to Head
The two nation have rarely met. However, they have encountered each other on three mouth-watering occasions. The first meeting was on 24th January 2008 during the African Cup of Nations in Ghana. As the host nation, Ghana beat Namibia 1-0 in a group stage game. The late Manuel Junior Agogo scored the only goal in the 41st minute at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Their second encounter was a friendly game played on 4th January 20214 where Ghana won 1-0. The Brave Warriors as brave as they are, beat Ghana 1-0 four years ago in a pre-AFCON friendly at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence in Dubai. Manfred Starke scored the only goal of the game around the half hour mark after Lawrence Ati Zigi’s failed attempt to parry the ball ended in his own net.
Recent Form
Chris Hughton’s men have not been consistent with results and their performance have not been exciting. Ghana have lost three times and won two in last five games. In their last game, Comoros defeated Ghana 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier. Mexico and the United States of America too beat Ghana in international friendly games. The two wins have come against Madagascar and Liberia.

Namibia on the other hand have won just a game in their last five games across all competitions. The 2-0 win came against Sao Tome and Principe in November last year. They lost 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea and have drawn against South Africa, Botswana and Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.
