Ghana coach Chris Hughton has revealed the reason he substituted Ghana winger Osman Bukari.
Osman Bukari came on for Inaki Williams in the 73rd minute. However, his mistake in the 73th minute gave Egypt the eqaulizer as the game ended 2-2. The Red Star Belgrade player was substituted out for Joseph Paintsil in the 89th minute,
Speaking after the game, Coach Chris Hughton says Bukari was getting emotional after the mistake he committed. In view of that, the technical team decided to change him.
“After he made the mistake, the emotions were getting the better of him. So these are the decisions you have to make as a head coach.” He said.
He added that the team will continue to encourage him and trust him because he is a wonderful player.
“This doesn’t in any way make me think anything different about Osman Bukari. He is a wonderful player and a wonderful individual and this is how we will continue to see him,” Chris Hughton added.
Ghana are now bottom of Group B with just a point and would have to beat Mozambique in the last round of the group stage games.
