Asante Kotoko slumped to a 3-2 defeat at their own backyard to Accra Lions on matchday 21 in ongoing the Ghana Premier League.
This result marks Kotoko’s second defeat at home this season in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Blessing Asumang gave Accra Lions the perfect start with a sensational strike in the tenth minute but Kalo Ouattara scored to restore parity before halftime.
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts early in the second half as Blessing Asumang scored again to give Lions the lead. It was the youngester’s fourth league goal in his third GPL appearance.
Simply put; this was a miserable night for Kotoko. They were slow out of the blocks and did little to trouble the visitors goalkeeper.
Nothing was going right for them as they conceded again during the 63rd minute. The Lions recorded their third goal through Dominic Amponsah’s powerful shot.
23 minutes after conceding, Bernard Somuah came off the bench to cut the visitors lead to 3-2.
The Porcupine Warriors were playing with belief, hoping to level the scoreline but it was too little, too late, and Lions smartly closed out the contest to pocket three points and leave Kotoko sitting in fourth one the league table.
Prosper Ogum and his boys return to action on Sunday against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu park. Accra Lions will also host their city rivals, Great Olympics at the WAFA Park.
