Former Hearts of Oak stalwart, Dan Quaye, has delivered a stern message to the current squad, cautioning them against the dire consequences of relegation due to their lackluster performances.
In an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, Quaye voiced his disappointment with the team’s recent displays, which have seen them clinch just one victory in their last five outings.
He stressed that the players’ negligent attitudes have contributed to the team’s current predicament, urging them to buckle down and take their responsibilities seriously to avoid the dreaded drop.
Quaye also underscored the cultural significance of Hearts of Oak to the Ga and Ashanti communities, warning that they would not hesitate to invoke curses upon the players if relegation becomes a reality.
“If these players continue with their careless ways and allow Hearts of Oak to be relegated, they will incur a curse upon themselves. During our time, Hearts never finished lower than tenth,” he remarked.
“However, these players have tarnished the team’s proud history. They must rectify this situation. Ga and Ashanti communities will not accept relegation lightly. It’s imperative that they understand the gravity of their actions,” he continued.
Quaye concluded by urging the players to redouble their efforts, emphasizing that the team’s fate rests squarely on their performances. He cited the recent demotion of Santos, a revered Brazilian club, as a cautionary tale for Hearts of Oak.
