Former Hearts of Oak forward, Kwadwo Obeng Junior, accuses assistant coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru for the club’s dismal performance in the Ghana Premier League this season.
The Phobians’ season has been plagued by setbacks, managing only one victory in their last six matches. With five defeats and a solitary win, they languish in 12th place in the league standings with 35 points.
Obeng Junior, 24, questions the competence of the Ghanaian giants’ assistant coach, attributing him as the primary cause of the team’s current woes.
“He’s the main problem in the team. He’s the reason most of the senior players were sacked from the team. Looking at my relationship with the club, had it not been for him, I wouldn’t have left along with players like Eso (Eric) and many others,” he voiced in an interview with Vision 1 FM in Accra.
“He was there when most of us departed the club, so he needs to be held accountable for why things aren’t going well. When I heard his post-interview, I laughed. He was the same person who reported us to the board, claiming we weren’t good enough and that we were planning to sabotage him. So, if the team isn’t performing, who should be blamed? Clearly, it’s him, and he should acknowledge that,” he concluded.
Hearts of Oak are set to face Berekum Chelsea in matchday 29 of the Ghanaian top-flight on Wednesday.
