Ahead of their clash on Wednesday, Berekum Chelsea’s defender, Yaw Darkwah, has issued a bold statement, asserting their determination to inflict further pain on Hearts of Oak.
The showdown will take place at the Golden City Park, where the ‘Bibires’ will square off against the struggling Phobians in a crucial Ghana Premier League matchweek 29 fixture.
Darkwah declared, “It’s a professional league we are playing and not a charity league so we won’t spare Hearts. We set our target even before the season started but now getting into the top four is becoming difficult because when you look at the second position to the tenth position, no one has cemented a position within the top four so a Hearts not being in a good shape doesn’t mean we should give it to them easily, it’s never possible”, Darkwah told ghanasportspage.com
“We want to be in the top four if we can’t win the ultimate to help our players. Your position on the league log can even increase your value as a player so we ain’t going to make things easy for them (Hearts)” he declared.
Reflecting on previous encounters, Darkwah emphasized the need for redemption, stating, “Last season, we dropped points against them, and it’s time to reclaim what’s ours. We’re aiming to overturn the four points they took from us to bolster our confidence because after this game we play Kotoko next so losing this game will put pressure on we the players”
With Chelsea currently in eighth place with 41 points and Hearts of Oak struggling at 13th with 35 points, Darkwah highlighted the significance of maximizing home advantage.
“We are going all out because we want to be part of the top four teams after the season. The competition to be in the top four is high looking at the points build up so if you start dropping points at home at this stage, you won’t get the position you’ve wanted to so we are going all out, it’s going to be a fair game and whoever do things right will pick the maximum points.”
