Black Stars coach Otto Addo has reportedly named Libyan-based striker, Jonathan Sowah in his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic.
The former Medeama SC striker who was part of Ghana’s AFCON squad missed the team’s international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda but has been selected for the crucial World Cup qualifier, Ghanasportspage.com can confirm.
Sowah joined Al Nasr Benghazi in Libya after impressing many football fanatics in the Ghanaian top-flight and the group stage matches of the CAF Champions League for Medeama SC.
He bagged four goals to inspire Al Nasr to a resounding 6-3 victory over Al Hilal at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi on Monday.
The Ghanaian attacker has now scored five goals in the Libyan Premier League, making him the club’s joint top scorer in the ongoing campaign.
His impressive form in the Ghana Premier League last season earned him a spot in Ghana’s final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, although the team was eliminated in the group stage.
Sowah made his competitive debut for the Black Stars during the World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Comoros, ending in a 1-0 defeat.
Coach Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad for the upcoming games against Mali and Central African Republic next week according to reports.
Ghana travels to Bamako on June 6 for the game against the Eagles of Mali before facing the Central African Republic four days later in Kumasi.
