Ibrahim Zie, spokesperson for the Malian Football Federation, has issued a stern warning to Ghana ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifier next month.
The Black Stars will face the Eagles on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako in the third round of qualifying for the Canada and USA World Cup.
Zie expressed confidence that Mali will triumph over Ghana, boosting their chances of making it to the World Cup.
“Ghana is a great football country in Africa, but Mali is also a great football country,” Zie stated in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
“Thursday’s fixture will not be easy. Matches between Ghana and Mali are often close, with results like 1-0, 2-1, or 1-1. I think this meeting’s result will favor us.”
“Mali will beat Ghana on Thursday. For sure, Mali will qualify from Group I after we beat Ghana on June 6.
“Of course, our core responsibility is to defeat Ghana and qualify from our group, ” Zie asserted whilst speaking to Sir Martin on ghanasportspage.com.
The Black Stars will return to Ghana four days after the Mali game for the fourth round match against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
