Asante Kotoko suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Great Olympics, with coach Prosper Narteh Ogum attributing the defeat to his team’s inability to capitalize on scoring chances.
Despite early promise, highlighted by Steven Mukwala’s missed penalty, Kotoko couldn’t find the back of the net.
Ogum expressed frustration, emphasizing the team’s failure to convert numerous opportunities, especially in the first half.
“Our inability to connect the chances we had especially in the first half, we had so many chances that we could have scored including the penalty,” he told StarTimes in a post-match interview.
“In the first half, they left so many spaces behind them on the right side and the left side and we utilize them well but then it was all about the final ball into the net or the last but one pass to somebody score.
I think they were in a haste and that actually made us a little bit tensed as the game unfolded especially when they scored, it brought some pressure on us because we had to come from behind but then i think it was all about our inability to score”
Reflecting on the match, Ogum highlighted missed chances and the pressure of playing from behind after Olympics’ goal. With aspirations to bounce back, Kotoko aims for a strong response against RTU in their next Matchday 33 clash in Tamale.
