Asante Kotoko thrashed lower-tier side Arthur Football Academy in their first pre-season game on Saturday morning in Kumasi, winning the match 8-0 at the Adako Jachie training ground.
The Porcupine Warriors dominated the game from start to finish, with new recruit Albert Amoah opening the scoring in the first half. He added his second goal later in the game, with Peter Amidu Acquah and Saaka Dauda also getting on the scoresheet.
Baba Yahaya, Bernard Somuah Sarpong, AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub, and trialist Victor Asamoah all scored in the second half to complete the 8-0 thrashing.
The friendly match was significant as it precedes Kotoko’s upcoming clash against Medeama on Friday, August 16, 2024, which will mark the grand opening and handover of the new Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, a 12,000-seater ultra-modern facility financed by Gold Fields.
The match allowed the coaching staff to assess the team’s fitness levels, tactics, and overall performance. It also provided an opportunity for the newly recruited players to showcase their skills and impress the coaching staff.
