Former Asante Kotoko captain, Abdul Ganiyu Ismail, has left the door open for a potential move to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, despite having played for the Porcupines.
Ganiyu, who led Kotoko to the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title, believes that football is a job, and he’s willing to take up a new challenge if it’s presented to him.
When asked about a potential transfer to Hearts of Oak, Ganiyu said: “You see, some players move from Manchester City to Manchester United, football is our job. It’s my job, so I can’t say no if Hearts want me despite I played for Asante Kotoko. If my management and Hearts management discuss and everything agreed, why not? I’ll play because it’s my job,” he told Ghanasportspage.com in an interview.
Ganiyu has been playing for several clubs since leaving Kotoko after the 2020/21 season, including Al-Talaba, Baba Boys, and TP Mazembe.
He was also an instrumental member of the Wa All Stars team that won the Ghana Premier League for the first time in the club’s history in 2016.
The former Ghana Premier League winner is currently a free agent after parting ways with TP Mazembe.
