MTN Ghana is on the verge of reestablishing itself as the headline sponsor for Asante Kotoko, with the deal nearing completion, according to Ghanasportspage.com.
Sources indicate that both parties are enthusiastic about rekindling their partnership. Should the deal be finalized, MTN Ghana is expected to play a crucial role in completing the Kotoko training grounds project, which has been stalled for over a decade.
The project began in 2013 under the leadership of Dr. KK Sarpong, when MTN Ghana contributed GH¢150,000 towards the development of the club’s administration block and training field at Adarko-Jachie near Kumasi.
By the end of 2013, MTN had donated a total of GH¢375,000 to these initiatives.Despite significant investment, the project remains unfinished due to changes in management and other delays. In 2020, MTN Ghana suspended its sponsorship deal with the club amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The renewed sponsorship could represent a pivotal moment for Asante Kotoko, as it promises to advance the completion of the training grounds and strengthen the club’s financial stability.
MTN Ghana’s involvement with Asante Kotoko dates back to 2001, providing financial support, airtime, and other benefits.
