The Black Satellites of Ghana have been placed in Group A for the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) WAFU B qualifiers set to take place next month.
Under the leadership of coach Desmond Ofei, the team will face off against Togo, Benin, and Niger in the group stage.Group B features strong contenders Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso, making for an exciting tournament.
The Black Satellites are determined to secure a spot in the 2025 U-20 AFCON, with the qualifiers scheduled to be held in Togo.
Ghana, a four-time champion, last lifted the U-20 AFCON trophy in 2021 under coach Karim Zito but missed out on the subsequent edition won by Senegal in 2023. This upcoming competition serves not only as a pathway to the continental tournament but also as qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup.
Earlier this year, the Black Satellites showcased their prowess by defeating Uganda to clinch the gold medal at the 2023 African Games hosted in Ghana.
The qualifiers are set to kick off from October 17 to 31, 2024, and the team is eager to make a strong return to the continental stage.
