The Germany U-20 national team delivered a dominant performance, thrashing the Black Satellites of Ghana 5-0 in an international friendly earlier today.
German-born Ilyas Ansah, of Ghanaian descent and currently playing for Bundesliga II side Paderborn O7, opened the scoring just two minutes after kickoff and went on to complete a brace in the match. Germany extended their lead further in the first half, with goals from Nelson Weiper of Mainz 05 and Tom Bischof from TSG Hoffenheim.
By halftime, the Die Mannschaft were already in full control with a 4-0 lead. Mert Kömür added a fifth goal in the final 11 minutes of the match to cap off the resounding victory.
This game served as the final preparatory match for Ghana’s U-20 coach, Desmond Offei, and his team as they gear up for the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship.
The Black Satellites have been drawn into Group A, where they will face hosts Togo, Niger, and Benin.Ghana will kickstart their campaign on Thursday, October 17, 2024, against the Young Squirrels of Benin.
