“Our win over Hearts will lift us up to fight for the title” – Says Kotoko trainer

Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has attributed their victory over Aduana Stars to self confidence and determination.

The Porcupine Warriors returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over the Ogya Boys at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park in Dormaa through Patrick Asiedu and Albert Amoah on week 12 of the Ghana Premier League.

However, the former GPL winner attributed their first win after five games to determination during his post match remarks.

“I think is about self confidence and determination. Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics but it has something to do with the confidence of the team, the determination of the team, the aggression of the team and the calmness of team.

“If you look at the way we played today, we were very calm right from the blast of the whistle to the end because I know the venue to be an aggressive venue and if you come aggressively it wouldn’t help so I tried as much as possible to let them understand that we need to be calm in every situation before we enter the field, the dressing room and on the field. And once you are calm, you can recall some tactical decisions and technical decisions and I think that was actually what helped us,” said Ogum.

The result lifts Asante Kotoko to 7th place on the league standings with 18 points after 12 matches.

Up next, they will host arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the eagerly anticipated Super Clash at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Aduana FC, now languishing in 14th place with just 12 points, will look to recover when they take on Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in their next fixture.
