The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has provisionally overturned the three-year ban imposed on former Asante Kotoko striker Solomon Safo Taylor by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee.

This ruling also reinstates the player’s license, allowing him to resume his football career while the case remains under review.

The ban, originally handed down on April 15, 2024, stemmed from allegations of double registration and falsified documents. The GFA Disciplinary Committee found the 26-year-old guilty of falsifying his registration documents after Kotoko filed a protest over name inconsistencies.

The ruling, which effectively sidelined the talented attacker, was later upheld by the GFA Appeals Committee on May 29, 2024.However, following an appeal filed on November 6, 2024, under case CAS 2024/A/10983, the CAS has granted provisional measures to Safo Taylor.

The key aspects of the CAS decision, delivered on December 4, 2024, and signed by Dr. Elisabeth Steiner, Deputy President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division, include:Approval of the application for provisional measures filed by Safo Taylor.

A provisional lifting of the ban imposed by the GFA.Reinstatement of Safo Taylor’s Player License, enabling him to return to professional football activities.A decision on the costs of this interim ruling to be made in the final arbitration award.

The CAS ruling marks a significant development in the case, offering a lifeline to Safo Taylor as he awaits a final determination. The decision also brings relief to the player and his supporters, who have long advocated for his return to football.

Safo Taylor, a former standout for Karela United, has faced challenges in his career due to this legal dispute. His provisional reinstatement not only revives his playing career but also adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing arbitration.

The Ghana Football Association has yet to release an official statement in response to the CAS ruling.
