Accra Hearts of Oak claimed a 1-0 win at home over Heart of Lions to climb to the 4th place of the Premier League table.
Mawul Wayo was the match-winner for Coach Ouattarra’s side as he smashed in his 5th goal of the season from the penalty spot after Stephen Appiah Asare was brought fouled.
The Phobians were kept in the game by Benjamin Asare as he prevented visitors from earning a point at the University of Ghana Stadium.
It was a tough battle for the hosts as the visitors looked more likely to punish them for the second time this season, but Hearts had their goalkeeper and his defenders to thank for their good job.
However, Hearts of Oak carried the greater attacking threat early on in the second half and went on to snatch the three points in the 51st minute.
Wayo kept his composure to convert his spot-kick past Lawrence Osei to keep Hearts perfect, which earned him the MVP award.
The result sees Hearts of Oak move to 4th position with 33 points – 1 point off the top spot.
They will now switch their attention to Bechem United’s clash on Matchday 20, while Heart of Lions, who sits 3rd, will return home to face Dreams FC.
