Former Asante Kotoko management member Solomon Ofosu Ware has refuted claims made by DCOP Lydia Donkor that the tragic death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, did not occur at the stadium.
Speaking in response to the police officer’s statement, Ofosu Ware insisted that Pooley was fatally attacked inside the stadium, specifically at the back of the VIP section.
“What the woman said is not true. Pooley died at the stadium,” he told Global Sports Today on YouTube.
“He came down from the VIP with two people from Kotoko. Then one guy and a lady pointed at him, telling three people, ‘This is him,’ and then he got stabbed. It was at the back of the VIP, which is inside the stadium.”
His account directly contradicts the DCOP Lydia Donkor, who is the leader of investigations for the GFA, earlier assertion that Pooley’s death occurred outside the match venue.
DCOP Donkor, in an interview with JoySports, insisted that the tragic incident did not occur inside the stadium, adding that Pooley was rather brought to the stadium after being stabbed.
“This unfortunate incident [the fan’s stabbing] didn’t happen inside the stadium. It happened outside, and he was picked up by a tricycle and dropped at that section of the stadium,” she told JoySports.
