Former Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko forward Obed Owusu has shared his thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated FA Cup semifinal clash between his two former clubs, calling it a crucial encounter with continental stakes.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Owusu noted that the winner of the match will be one step closer to CAF Confederation Cup qualification, making it a high-stakes battle for both sides.
“It’s an important game and both teams stand a chance to represent Ghana in Africa,” he said. “Samuel Boadu wouldn’t want Kotoko to beat him for the second time, whereas Kotoko would want to win and progress to the final,” he told Kwame Sekyere Darko on Agyapa Total Sports in Kenyasi.
Chelsea’s head coach Samuel Boadu previously suffered a defeat to Kotoko in the league, and Owusu believes that adds extra motivation for him to get revenge.
Despite the tension surrounding the clash, the former striker expects an entertaining and competitive match.
“So it will be a good game, and I believe the good side will win,” he added.
The semifinal promises to be a thrilling affair, with both clubs chasing silverware and a return to continental football.
The game is scheduled for Sunday, May 11 at the Tarkwa TNA stadium.
