Relegated Ghana Premier league side, Accra Lions FC have confirmed the appointment of Ghanaian coach Richard Afoakwa as member of their first team coach.
The former WAFA and Inter Allies trainer signed a long-term deal with the Capital based outfit that suffered relegation from the country’s elite division in the 2024/25 league season. He will serve as an assistant trainer when the new season starts.
Accra Lions Football Club announced Afoakwa’s capture with a statement saying; “We are extremely excited to have Richard Afoakwa join our staff for the new season.”
“We consider Richard to be one of the greatest coaching talents in Ghana, which fits well with our ambitions,“Accra Lions Chairman Oliver König said.
Afoakwa following his confirmation said; “I’m excited to join a club that puts player development above all,” Afoakwa said. “It’s a great opportunity to grow in such an environment and I’m ready to help this team win games.”
