Ghanaian midfielder Enoch Morrison, who currently plies his trade with Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, has expressed delight following the appointment of C.K Akonnor as the club’s new head coach.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage, Morrison revealed that the news of Akonnor’s appointment, along with a fully Ghanaian technical team, was communicated to the players just a day prior.
He also expressed believe in the former Black Stars manager, stating that he is the right man to lead the East African side to success.
“The team informed us about the appointment yesterday. It’s not only CK but the assistant and the goalkeeper’s trainer are all Ghanaians, which makes me very happy,” Morrison said.
“I’m 100 percent sure that CK will lead us to success. Some players asked me about how CK is and I told them he is very strict. He is someone I believe can manage egos and I believe he will do well,” he added.
Morrison, a former Asante Kotoko player, noted that he previously felt isolated as the only Ghanaian at the club, and the arrival of a Ghanaian technical bench would ease communication and boost morale.
“I’m excited because I was the only Ghanaian and it was difficult to blend in.”
Gor Mahia have officially appointed Charles Kwabla (C.K) Akonnor as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Along with CK, fellow Ghanaian coaches Bismark Kobi Mensah and Ben Owu have been named assistant coach and the goalkeeper’s trainer respectively, forming an all-Ghanaian managerial trio at the helm of the club.
