Accra Hearts of Oak SC Western Regional Chapters Committee (RCC) Organiser, Alhaji Sherif, famously known as Shefphobia has shockingly indicated that his club voted in support of GFA President Kurt Okraku’s third term bid as a result of intimidation and victimization.
According to the diehard fan of the Phobias, the club had earlier made their stand known of voting against the proposed text, however, it was changed. Revealing fear and panic led it and had there been a secret ballot, Hearts of Oak SC would have voted no.
Over the week, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held it’s 31st Ordinary Congress having one of the items on bill as extension of office term of the President. By so doing, amended article 37(4) from two terms to three. Prior to the Congress, several clubs including Hearts of Oak SC revealed their stands.
However, the voting saw majority of 114 clubs vote in support including Hearts of Oak SC whiles six (6) voted against with three(3) clubs abstaining.
For Hearts of Oak SC inability to stand firm on their earlier decisions seen a member of their supporters wing in Takoradi, Chapter 13, shockingly disclosing that it happened because the club has suffered a lot under the current FA and for fear of victimization voted to support the smaller clubs.
“Dr. Togbe Afede already said we were not going to vote for the extension of term but Hearts is the club that has suffered most in the hands of this FA”
“But Hearts of Oak voted yes at Congress to approve it due to intimidation and fear. Am saying this on authority that Hearts voted in support of Kurt Okraku due to fear and victimization”, Alhaji Sherif told Connect FM in Takoradi.
“If the elections was a secret ballot, Hearts of Oak would have voted against the extension”, he added.
