Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has described his side’s victory over Asante Kotoko in the GHALCA Top 4 as a major source of motivation for his players.
Speaking after the game, Manso admitted that facing a club of Kotoko’s stature in their opening match came with pressure, but praised his players for rising to the challenge.
“It’s been good for us in terms of motivation because our players will be motivated by them in this tournament. Playing your first game against a team like Kotoko, I think that alone puts pressure on us,” Manso said.
“But once they have been able to deal with it, I think going forward, they will do well in the next games. For me, it’s not about the win — I want to see my players in a big occasion like this, how they will play — and I think they did just that, although we still have a lot of mistakes to correct,” he added.
The victory gives GoldStars a positive start in the competition as they aim to build confidence and sharpen their squad ahead of their CAF Champions League prelims.
