Asante Kotoko interim management committee (IMC) member, Kwesi Appiah, has downplayed concerns over the club’s struggles in the ongoing GHALCA Top 4 tournament, insisting that results in the preseason competition are not a priority.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com, Appiah stressed that the tournament’s primary value lies in giving the team competitive minutes ahead of the new season.
“Even if we lose 10-0, I don’t care,” Appiah said. “The most important thing is that they are playing games. If I were Karim Zito, I would have used the youth team for the tournament. The main competition is the league and the Confederation Cup.”
Kotoko are currently bottom of the Top 4 standings without a point from two matches, following their opening-day 2-1 defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars.
They face Hearts of Oak on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in their final fixture at 18:00GMT.
The GHALCA Top 4 serves as a preseason competition featuring the top four finishers from the previous Ghana Premier League season.
