The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has praised new Black Stars defender Derrick Arthur Kohn, tipping him to make a strong impact in the national team.
Arthur, born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, has switched nationality to represent Ghana and earned his first call-up in Otto Addo’s 24-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
Speaking to Starr FM, Asante Twum described the left-back as a rare talent with great potential.
“Derrick Arthur has gladly agreed to switch his nationality from Germany to Ghana. Derrick Arthur is an exceptional talent who has very good attributes as a defender,” he said.
Arthur agreed to switch nationality from Germany to Ghana after discussions with the GFA and Black Stars coach Otto Addo.
His decision adds depth to Ghana’s defensive unit at a time when the team is seeking long-term options in the left-back position.
The highly-rated fullback is expected to bolster Ghana’s defensive options as the Black Stars prepare for two crucial fixtures — away to Chad on September 4 and at home against Mali on September 8 — in the race to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
