Despite Asante Kotoko SC experiencing setback at the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament, is expected to excel when the new season starts under Abdul Karim Zito.

Former midfielder of Asante Kotoko SC Michael Akuffo believe strongly that, Karim Zito will have a success story at the club insisting, he is the right man to lead the Porcupine Warriors despite their underwhelming show at the GHALCA tournament.

Kotoko failed to record even a draw in the preseason competition inflicting pain unto the fans, finishing bottom of the four-team tournament. This has raised concerns amongst the supporters heading into the new season where they will be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Karim Zito despite a short stint after replacing Prosper Nartey Ogum won the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup title for the Porcupine Warriors granting Kotoko a ticket to play in Africa. He also clinched the President Cup and Toyota Cup.

Former midfielder of Asante Kotoko SC Michael Akuffo believes Zito has a lot to offer the club and will definitely transform the team.

“It’s a big plus for the team when you look at what Karim Zito did with Dreams FC in the CAF Confederation Cup. So when his name was mentioned for Kotoko, I didn’t see anything wrong because I’ve known him since childhood”

“Giving the job to him will help transition Kotoko into something different”, he told Radio Gold.

“Last season was very difficult, but when he came, he changed certain dynamics, and at the end of the day, the team won laurels.”

The Reds finished 3rd last season and will be looking to bounce back to their best after amassing 58 points.
