Chad held the Black Stars of Ghana to a 1-1 last Thursday in Africans World Cup qualifier match at their own background. Ghana took the lead in the first half with Mohammed Kudus setting up Jordan Ayew for the goal but suffered a late shock.
89th minute equaliser from Chad went straight to the rib of Ghana, however could only settle for a draw.
Following the outcome, Ghana failed to stretch their points gap in Group I, as they now sit top with 16 points, with Madagascar second with 13 points following a 2-0 win over Central African Republic.
Mali are a point further behind after reviving their campaign by beating Comoros 3-0.
Chad despite denying Ghana a win, has no chance qualifying from the group.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com Coach Raoul Savoy hinted that he is building a new team for Chad, hence needed to avoid a defeat against Ghana. Insisting every game at the national team level is result oriented besides , Chad is targeting at next Africa Cup of Nations and should be up and doing in games of that magnitude.
“Each game is important for national team, you have to tackle every game to grow up”
“I have a mission here and that is to build a good team that will qualify for next AFCON and that mission started with Ghana a couple of days ago” So it’s part of my plan to prepare them to win or draw and avoid losing”, he said.
Coach Raoul Savoy added that; “Ghana team has not changed much when I last faced them with Central African Republic”.
Ghana will play Mali in qualifier match fixture 8 on Monday, September 08, 2025 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
