Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has praised debutant Kwasi Sibo following his standout display in Ghana’s slim win over Mali on Monday in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Sibo, who earned his first cap for the national team, caught the eye with a commanding performance in midfield, providing energy, composure, and defensive stability in a high-pressure encounter.
Speaking after the game, Otto Addo expressed his satisfaction with the player’s contribution and hinted at future opportunities for the Real Oviedo man.
“Because of his performance I’m very sure he’ll be called again for the next international break,” Addo said.
The Ghana coach emphasized the importance of rewarding consistency and hard work, noting that Sibo’s seamless integration into the squad was a major positive from the international window.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who plays his club football in Spain, is now expected to become a regular face in the Black Stars team as Ghana continues its push for qualification to the World Cup.
Addo’s comments will come as a huge boost for Sibo, who has long been tipped as a player capable of strengthening Ghana’s midfield depth.
Meanwhile, Black Stars have extended their lead at the top of Group I after a 1-0 win over Mali.
Ghan now edges closer to securing a spot in the World Cup with 19 points and need at least 4 points from the last two games to secure qualification.
