Sunyani Technical University (STU) has secured corporate backing for the 2027 Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games, with Cowbell confirming its support.

The announcement was made by Mrs. Evelyn Nsiah Asare, STU Sports Manager and Vice-Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), during the inauguration of the LOC on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the K. Nsiah Gyabaah Auditorium. Mrs. Nsiah Asare commended Cowbell for demonstrating confidence in STU’s preparations and urged other corporate bodies to follow their example. She described Cowbell as a household name whose commitment to health, nutrition, and sports development makes it a natural partner for the Games.

“Cowbell has shown the way by stepping forward to support the 2027 GHATUSA Games. This is a brand with a long-standing reputation for producing nutritious dairy and food products that promote healthy living, especially among young people. Their consistent involvement in sports sponsorship across Ghana further underscores their commitment to youth development. We look forward to more partners coming on board to make this event truly historic,” she stated.

The Vice-Chancellor of STU, Ing. Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, also appealed for broader stakeholder support to complete key projects such as the AstroTurf pitch, tartan tracks, and courts for volleyball and handball, describing the 2027 Games as both a sporting festival and a legacy project for the Bono Region.

The Bono Regional Minister, Honourable Joseph Addae Akwaboah Esq., pledged the government’s support, assuring that the Games would be positioned as a regional and national project to boost the socio-economic fortunes of Sunyani and the Bono Region.

In a post-event interview, the Executive Secretary of the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana (VCTU-G), Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi, also praised Cowbell’s gesture. He noted that their support aligns with the vision of the Games to combine sports excellence with youth development and healthy living. “Cowbell’s involvement is timely and commendable. For years, they have built a trusted reputation for nutrition and health, and their contribution to GHATUSA 2027 confirms their role as a reliable partner in national development,” he remarked.

The GHATUSA Games, a biennial sporting event, brings together athletes from Ghana’s ten technical universities. With Cowbell’s early support, combined with government and stakeholder commitment, STU is poised to deliver a Games that will showcase sportsmanship, talent, and development while leaving behind lasting infrastructure for the region.
