Ghana who last won Africa Cup of Nations in 1982, will be appearing at the 23rd edition of FIFA World Cup slated for next year in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
The Black Stars secured a 1-0 victory at home over Central Africa Republic to book ticket to their 5th appearance at the Mundial. Since, their qualification many has called for the strengthening of squad with European born Ghanaian players to be considered.
Popular amongst these list of players are Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest forwards Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Speaking in an interview with Onua TV, former Youth and Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye jumped into this development asking the Football Association of Ghana to invite Nketiah and Odoi for Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
Lante strongly believe the experience of the duo will go a long way to inspire Ghana at the World Cup especially with England in Ghana’s group.
“The good thing is that we are going to play against England. It will rather give us a psychological advantage over them.
They won’t have that overconfidence. Imagine having Jordan [Ayew], [Antoine] Semenyo, Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi in attack! It makes us stronger”.
Odoi and Nketiah all represented England through their youth teams to the Red Lions but eligible to switch allegiance. Both have successfully, completed their nationality switch and could play for their root.
Ghana is housed in group L with England, Croatia and Panama for the World Cup.
