The technical director and advisor for Accra Hearts of Oak SC, Aboubakar Outtara has clarified and backed Benjamin Asare to retain his spot as the club’s first choice upon return from injury.
The Black Stars goalkeeper has being out of action for several weeks after picking up unknown injury. He’s since missed 8 matches for the Phobias, having Solomon Agbasi mending the goalpost.
In the absence of Asare, Hearts of Oak SC recorded 6 clean sheets under the stewardship of Solomon Agbasi in 8 league matches.
The performance of Agbasi has sparked debates amongst football fans whether Solomon is maintained in post or Asare resumes as Hearts of Oak SC first choice with many calling for Agbasi to be maintained.
However, Outtara has dismissed those concerns with huge believe that Benjamin Asare remains the club’s number one and when fully fit, should command the goalpost.
“Solomon Agbasi is doing extremely well, but the fact is Benjamin Asare stillr remains the number one for Hearts of Oak”
“And he needs to take over when he is fully fit”, the Ivorian trainer told Top FM/ TV.
Benjamin Asare is expected to return to post in the coming weeks especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the corner. Regular game time will be crucial for him as he looks to earn a spot in coach Otto Addo’s final World Cup squad.
