Asante Kotoko have clarified that the return of striker Albert Amoah to the club was the result of a strategic decision by Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, dismissing suggestions that the move came as a surprise.
The striker completed a six months loan move to Kotoko, three months after joining the Libyan side.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Kotoko’s Communications Director Sarfo Duku explained that the club maintained regular contact with Amoah and his new club following his transfer to Libya.
“I’m surprised by claims that Albert Amoah’s return is shocking. Such situations are common in football. After his transfer to Libya, Kotoko maintained regular engagement with both the club and the player,” Duku said.
He revealed that when Al Ahly Benghazi decided to release Amoah on loan, Kotoko were given priority due to the striker’s history with the club.
“When a strategic decision was taken to release him on loan, Kotoko was considered first, and we gladly accepted, mindful of Albert’s legacy at the club,” he added.
Duku expressed confidence that Amoah’s return will have a positive impact on the team.
“We believe his return will significantly strengthen our striking department.”
Albert Amoah’s return could solve Kotoko’s recent goal scoring problems are they look to get back in form.
