The Communication Director for Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has confirmed Ghana will have some new faces joining the Black Stars camp for their 2026 FIFA World Cup scheduled mid this year.
Ghana booked their ticket to the Mundial for the second time running having made appearance in the last edition held in Qatar.
The four-time Africa Cup of Natios winners will be present at the World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico in their fifth historic appearance. With priority set, at bettering their performance after a shambolic campaign in Qatar which saw them finish 3rd at the group phase, Ghana will be embarking on the tournament with all arsenals.
Head coach Otto Addo is currently, at player visiting tour monitoring the data base and performance of available Ghanaian players for a solid and formidable tournament squad. It’s become, an opened and ongoing discussion surrounding English born Ghanaian descents Eddie Nketia and Callum Hudson-Odoi to be called up for the tournament.
Many pundits have opined, their experience could help the Black Stars whiles others not in support of handing them such opportunity.
In an interview with Sporty FM in Accra, communication director of GFA disclosed that Otto Addo has already requested from the football association to strengthen his team for the global show piece.
“I am aware that Otto Addo has requested to beef up the Black Stars technical team.This is the biggest football tournament and he beleives we must go there with the best.”
Ghana is housed in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama.
The Black Stars will kick start their campaign with game against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing European heavyweight England on June 23 in Boston then conclude group phase with Croatia clash on June 27 in Philadelphia.
