Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has expressed strong confidence in Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, insisting the coach is now better prepared for the demands of the World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Afriyie said Addo has grown in maturity and experience and is unlikely to repeat past mistakes on football’s biggest stage.
“Otto Addo is now a mature coach, and I don’t think he will make mistakes at the World Cup,” Afriyie said.
He added that the Black Stars coach has learned valuable lessons from previous outings and now fully understands what is required to succeed at the highest level.
“He has learned from past experiences and understands what is required at that level,” he noted.
Otto Addo became the first Ghanaian manager to lead Ghana to two World Cup qualification—2022 and 2026.
In his first appearance in the competition, the German trained gaffer steered Ghana to a group stage exit, winning just one game.
However, Ghana will be hoping Otto Addo’s experience and tactical growth translate into a strong showing at the upcoming World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada as expectations continue to rise among fans and football stakeholders.
Ghana are in Group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.
