Asante Kotoko SC gaffer Abdul Karim Zito says his outfit turn around in form is as a result of hardwork and intensifying their training sessions.
The Porcupine Warriors have managed to found their rhythm, after a struggling moment of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier league campaign. A poor run of form, that almost led to the sack of head coach Abdul Karim Zito.
However, with the return of several players from the injury room Kotoko is gradually becoming a formidable side gunning for the league ultimate.
On Sunday, they walloped Basake Holy Stars FC 3-0 to position themselves well for the league chase. Goals from Samba O’Neil, Albert Amoah and Kwame Opoku ensured their aim of battling for the title was on course.
Kotoko in their last 6 league matches are unbeaten in five, losing 2-1 to Swedru All Blacks in this run of form. However, in their last 3 matches including Basake Holy Stars FC won just one and drawn twice.
Karim Zito speaking to the media after Holy Stars revealed Kotoko’s current performance is as a result of hard work and high training intensity.
“It’s hard work, we increased the tempo of the training to higher level. Because, after this, there is no opportunity again”
“So, we have to go all out and execute our plan”
“Why not, we still have our eyes set on the league title. Its reaming 14 matches and we can do it”, Zito said when asked about winning the title.
Kotoko triumph over Basake Holy Stars FC push them to 3rd place on the league standings with 35 points, still sitting behind league leaders Medeama SC with 8 points.
They will next make a trip to Kpando to face Hearts of Lions FC on Saturday January 31, 2026.
