Former England youth team player Tyrique George has opened up his day for a possible switch of allegiance after confirming his Ghanaian root.
The 20-year old forward who completed his loan move to Everton FC early this week from Chelsea FC revealed his true identity to the footballing world disclosing his root is half Nigerian and half Ghana. That makes him eligible to play for either country at senior level despite passing through the ranks of English national youth team.
George has been touted by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over two years now but struggling to capture him.
Following his declaration, opens door for a possible future switch in nationality from England to Ghana, especially with the 2026 FIFA World cup at the corner.
“My mother is Ghanaian and my father is Nigerian. Neymar and Sancho are my favorite players I grew watching.”
The London born has made a mark in the England Under-21 team, making four appearance with two goals. He can still play for the first team of England regardless.
Ghana is hoping to parade an enigmatic squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and including the experience of George Tyrique could likely boost and strengthen the Ghanaian team at the Mundial.
