Asante Kotoko SC head coach Abdul Karim Zito is pushing his players psychologically to put behind them Hearts of Lions defeat and fight to retain the MTN FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors are mathematically out of the Ghana Premier league race and would have to clinch the MTN FA Cup as compensation to fans and return to Africa. With a hurdle scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026 against Aduana FC, Karim Zito has urged his boys to be focused, and amend their defeat to Hearts of Lions and also fight for a win this weekend.
Triumph over Aduana FC, will mean semi final slot is booked for the MTN FA Cup by the Reds and a defeat confirms their exit from the campaign. A fate, Kotoko fans would not want to experience hence Zito calling his players to exhibit character of a defending champion against Aduana FC.
Speaking to the club media ahead of game, Zito said his players have to change their mindset and improve on their defeat to Lions FC.
“I told them [my players] we don’t have any excuse against Aduana. We should do the amendment and improve on the match we played against Hearts of Lions”
“We have to change the mindset, we have to put it behind us and then come out and fight to prove that we are really the defending champions”, Zito noted.
